The Narnia Arts Academy is the brainchild of Cristiana Pegoraro whose goal is to mix music, art, education and tourism, by uniting culture and geography in an innovative interdisciplinary initiative aimed at the dissemination and comprehension of the arts and understanding of the cultural, architectural and historical heritage of the Umbrian region.
Narnia Arts Academy runs a very intense activity in the schools, embracing from the elementary to the high schools.
The various outreach programs take place directly in the schools and include an active student participation at the different projects, aimed to increase their comprehension and appreciation of classical music.
Narnia Arts Academy school projects take place during the winter and spring months, generally from February to May.
In July, in collaboration with the City of Narni, Narnia Arts Academy presents the Narnia Festival, a big celebration of arts, music and culture offering performances by world-renowned artists and the best of educational programs on an international level.
Narnia Festival’s performances combine tradition and innovation in a balanced harmony between music, dance, and theater, exhibitions, conferences, cultural activities, and excursions.
Regular participants are world renowned artists such as Katia Ricciarelli, Marcello Giordani, Danilo Rea, Maria Rosaria Omaggio, Enzo Decaro, Enrico Vanzina, Barbara De Rossi, Samanta Togni, Carol Wincenc, Tali Roth, Silvia Duran, Luc Bouy, Pablo Garcia, seen in performances ranging from classical music to opera, from sacred music to jazz, from ballet to tango and flamenco.
The Narnia Festival training embraces a great variety of proposals of the highest quality, featuring teachers from the most important international schools and universities (including The Juilliard School in New York, Mozarteum – Salzburg, the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst – Vienna, University of Miami, Accademia del Teatro alla Scala, Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia) and a participation of over 250 young students each season.

During the past five years, Narnia Arts Academy saw the participation of over 4.000 young students.

Acclaimed as one of the most gifted musicians of her generation, Italian-born pianist Cristiana Pegoraro has consistently entertained and enlightened audiences with her inspired performances and original programming. Her skills display great technical and interpretative abilities. She began her career in music as a piano prodigy receiving countless national and international awards, including the 1989 Prague Best of the Year for Classical Music Award “for her great personality, strong musical temperament, mastery of phrasing and expressive artistry.” The New York Times called her “an artist of the highest caliber” following her stunning 1996 debut at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall.
Ms. Pegoraro has performed in some of the major venues in Europe, United States, South America, Asia and Australia, including Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the United Nations, the Guggenheim Museum (New York); the Sydney Opera House; Festspielhaus (Salzburg); Musikverein (Vienna); Royal College of Music (London); Auditorium Parco della Musica, Casa del Jazz (Rome); Amici del Loggione del Teatro alla Scala, Serate Musicali (Milan); Centro Cultural de Belem (Lisbon); Theatro Municipal (São Paulo); Theatro Municipal (Rio de Janeiro), the Opera House (Manaus), Budapest Spring Festival, Umbria Jazz Winter, Sorrento Jazz Festival, S. In December 2006 and November 2007 she toured the Gulf Countries, becoming the first Italian female pianist to perform classical concerts in Bahrain, Yemen and Oman. Presently, Cristiana Pegoraro is also the first Italian female pianist to perform all 32 Sonatas for piano by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Hailed by the critics as “among the best interpreters of Cuban and South American music”, Ms. Pegoraro has premiered to European audiences the works of Latin-American composers such as Astor Piazzolla, Joaquin Nin and Ernesto Lecuona. She also made her own piano transcriptions of some of their greatest works, including the most famous tangos of Astor Piazzolla, and composed a Fantasy on Cuban dances by Ernesto Lecuona.
Her piano artistry can be heard on 27 compact discs released by Decision Products, Dynamic, Nuova Era, Diva, Eden Editori and Da Vinci Classics. Gramophone Magazine heralded her second recording of Ernesto Lecuona’s piano music on Dynamic Records with glowing praise – “Cristiana Pegoraro plays not only with brilliance, but with a most engaging finesse.” Peter Burwasser of Fanfare Magazine has described her as “a multi-faceted artist who eagerly searches for passion and musical inspiration in her life and her performances.”
Her CD “Astor Piazzolla Tangos”, released in 2016, received the Gold Medal at the prestigious Global Music Awards in two categories: Album and Instrumental. Her latest release, “Gioacchino Rossini Overtures – Piano Transcriptions” featuring some of his most popular overtures transcribed for piano by Pegoraro herself, premiered worldwide in November 2017.
She has been a featured artist on radio and television, on WQXR New York (USA), RAI, Mediaset, Radio Vaticana, Discoteca di Stato (Italy), BBC (Scotland), ARD (Germany), RTP (Portugal), Nine Network (Australia) and CBC (Japan). Over the years Cristiana has appeared in front of the highest world dignitaries. In November 2003, she performed for the President of Italy, Mr. Carlo Azeglio Ciampi. Later that same month, on the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, she appeared in her 8th sold out concert at Lincoln Center in the presence of the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations. In 2006, at the United Nations Headquarters, she performed for Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg. In 2005 at her 10th sold out concert at Lincoln Center, she received the World Peace Award from the Circolo Culturale Italiano of the United Nations “for her effort in advancing peace in the world”. In 2007, in Naples, Italy, along with other important artists including Maestro Claudio Abbado, she received the Sebetia Ter President of Italy Award “for her activity as a performer and composer”. Most recently, Cristiana has taken up the challenge of composition, releasing five highly acclaimed albums “A Musical Journey”, “Ithaka”, “La mia Umbria”, “Volo di note” and “Piano di volo”. Her compositions have been used for films and documentaries. She composed the soundtrack to the video “For Whom The Sirens Toll” produced by the United Nations Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict and presented at the United Nations on September 11th, 2004, in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack. She also composed the soundtrack of the short movie “La casa dell’orologio” by Italian director Gianni Torres. She is the author of a book of poems called “Ithaka” and a series of children’s books based on Italian operas.

At the age of seven he began studying the piano and at eleven he began studying the organ under the organist and composer Lorenzo Ronci. He concluded his studies at Santa Cecilia with Maestro Federico del Sorto. Since 1996 he has been the principal organist at the Basilica del Sacro Cuore Immacolato di Maria ai Parioli (Rome).
From 1997 – 2011 he continued to perfect his piano studies under Biagio Andriulli, Andrea Sammartino, Giovanni Scaramuzza and Gino Nappo at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He has performed as soloist and has accompanied polyphonic choirs in some of the most prestigious cathedrals and venues in Italy. He has worked with many important singers from the Santa Cecilia Academy and Teatro dell’Opera, the Coro Accademico Romano and the Coro Polifonico S. Martino, among others. In 2003 he held concerts in the Vatican (Sala Raffaello), in the Chiesa del Governatorato and in the Vatican Gardens for the re-opening of the Casina di Pio IV.
He studied composition with Marco Persichetti, graduating with the highest grades from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome under Francesco Telli.
He began his career as Orchestra Conductor studying with Francesco Carotenuto and Marco Boemi, and participating in Piero Bellugi’s Masterclasses. Since 2004 he has written and performed music on the piano and organ for shows, documentaries and short TV movies on RAI 1, RAI 3, RAI International, Sky Sport, Roma Uno, and others. In November 2005, Radio Uno Rai broadcasted his “Rapsodia Orientale (Pensando a Pechino)” composed and played by him. In May 2006 he debuted as composer at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome (Sala Petrassi) during an event hosted by Pippo Baudo “Com’è Straordinaria la Vita”, and held a chamber music concert in the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano for the 400th anniversary of the opening of the Vatican Museums. During the Christmas festivities in 2006, he played the organ during the Mass in St. Peter’s Cathedral. In September 2009 and in December 2011, he was again organist at St. Peter’s for the celebration of Masses by Cardinal Comastri.
From 2009 to 2010 he was First Assistant Conductor of the elite orchestra of the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 2010 he debuted as Conductor of the Orchestra Tiberina, conducting the orchestra again in 2011 for a concert at the Cathedral of the Santissimi Apostoli (Rome). Since 2010 he has been collaborating with the Accademia Santa Cecilia as pianist and conductor. Since 2011 he has been Principal Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra “L’Armonica Temperanza”, with which he tours on a regular basis. With “L’Armonica Temperanza” he was invited to perform in the most prestigious halls and churches of Rome (Sala della Protomoteca del Campidoglio, Sala del Coro della Cappella Sistina, Biblioteca del Senato, Biblioteca Nazionale, Basilica di Santa Francesca Romana, San Quirico e Giulitta ai Fori Imperiali, San Bartolomeo all’Isola Tiberina, S.Lucia al Gonfalone, Chiesa degli Spagnoli ai Banchi Vecchi, San Clemente, Sant’Eugenio alle Belle Arti, San Paolo entro le mura). In 2012 he founded the Orchestra and Choir of Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II in Rome.
In 2013, within the Narnia Festival, he conducts at the prestigious Orvieto Cathedral and San Domenico Auditorium in Narni, Italy. Both concerts were recorded by RAI 1 and presented by famous actress Barbara De Rossi.
In January 2014 he debuts with Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma at the Auditorium Seraphicum in Rome and Teatro Magnani in Fidenza (Parma) with two sold out concerts.
On the basis of his merits, the President of the Republic of Italy, C.A.Ciampi, awarded him the title of “Cavaliere della Repubblica”.

Performing and visual arts lover, Susanna moves her first steps in the arts management in 2007 when she starts university in Bologna at DAMS in music critique and organization. Once graduated from DAMS in 2012 she moves to Liverpool (UK), the European pop music birthplace, to continue her studies in the arts management. She graduates three years later from LIPA – Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in Music, Theatre and Entertainment Management in presence of Paul McCartney, one of the institute founders. In 2016 she concludes her academic experience in Florence graduating in Cultural Heritage Management.

Lana Ivanov United States

Lana Ivanov has distinguished herself as a performer, and a remarkably insightful, technical and artistic pedagogue. The inaugural first prize winner of the Summit Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition and numerous other awards, Ms. Ivanov received her Bachelor of Music from the prestigious Manhattan School of Music under the tutelage of Piano Professor, Zenon Fishbein in 1988. Maintaining her philosophy to learn without limitation, in 1991 and 1992 Ms. Ivanov has attended the International Bartók Festival in Hungary studying under the renowned pianist Zoltán Kocsis.
In 1994, Ms. Ivanov became the Artistic Director and a faculty member of the Shandelee Music Festival (www.shandelee.org), and since 1996, she has been the Executive Director of the Young Pianist Competition for New Jersey (www.youngpianist.org) In the summer of 2000, Ms. Ivanov was invited to join the piano faculty of Festival “Musica in Laguna” (www.almc.it) Chioggia (Italy) and in 2012, she joined Narnia Arts Academy (www.narniaartsacademy.com) Narni (Italy) as the Educational and Artistic Administrator. Ms. Ivanov frequently gives master classes for the Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey and at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center (New Jersey). She was invited by the Kazakh National Academy (Astana, Kazakhstan) to give a series of lectures and master classes in December of 2004, April/May 2005 and again in February 2006.

Patrick Jovell Sweden

Swedish pianist Patrick Jovell was born in Helsingborg in 1960. Trained by Professor Dagny Norling in Gothenburg, he made his debut at the age of 17 with Mozart’s C major concerto KV 467. He later continued his studies and took his Master’s degree at Malmö Academy of Music under Professor Hans Pålsson. With scholarships from the University of Lund, the Crafoord Foundation, the Ax:son Johnson Foundation and others, Jovell continued his post-graduate studies at the University of California, Los Angeles, and privately with American pianist Garrick Ohlsson in San Francisco and New York.
Jovell’s interest in the piano music of A. N. Scriabin led to degrees in musicology and performance, including doctoral studies at the University of Gothenburg and École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales – IRCAM in Paris with support from the French government, the Wallenberg Foundation and the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. This not only resulted in CDs and video recordings but also offered access to rare autograph materials generously provided by the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris and the Glinka Museum in Moscow. Patrick Jovell’s lectures, seminars and Master classes are enjoyed internationally.
Jovell has been heard in recitals, chamber music and with orchestras in more than 15 countries throughout Europe, the USA and Asia. Jovell’s piano videos and short films have been distributed to more than ten countries and have been heard at film festivals and music exhibitions worldwide such as MIDEM, POPKOMM and MUSICORA. During 2002-2003 Jovell was the top downloaded classical pianist in Japan (LISTEN-Japan). The 2004 short film “Russian Preludes” by Nguyen Fasck Brown was followed by another 30-minute production, “Scarlatti Sonatas”, shot on location in Italy, Spain and France during 2005.
Jovell has had the great pleasure of co-operating with outstanding Swedish musicians such as Christian Davidsson, Per Enoksson, Jan Hammar, Håkan Hardenberger, Bengt Ola Morgny, Progetto Avanti and Mats Rondin. Jovell’s collaboration with composers has resulted in piano works by Carl Faia, Henry Gammelgård, Kent Olofsson, a piano concerto by Aloisia Lasko and most recently the work “Triathlon” by Michel Mare.
He has functioned as lector and teacher at the conservatories of Gothenburg, Sweden and Tilburg, the Netherlands. His students are prize winners in national and international piano competitions.

Andrea DelGiudice, has enjoyed a full career in Europe and the United States as a leading international soprano. Venues include the Scottish National Opera, Munich State Opera, Liege Opera, Opera Bonn, Edmonton Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, DiCapo Opera Theater and Arizona Opera. Her verismo roles include the Puccini and Verdi heroines alongside renowned artists such as Placido Domingo, Johan Botha, Sherill Milnes, Alexei Steblianko, and Nicola Martinucci.

Attualmente ricopre la carica di responsabile alle attività culturali e dello spettacolo del Comune di Narni. È altresì resposabile del Teatro Comunale “Giuseppe Manini”.

Lavora dal ’95 con la computer grafica partendo dai sistemi Venice e Unix con macchine Silicon Graphics, fino a utilizzare software su Linux, Mac e Windows.
Ha collaborato inizialmente con la ColourArt come designer 2d, la Sigma Consulting System in qualità di designer e animatore e per la messa in onda di videografica spesso prodotta internamente per Rai e Mediaset. Infine per la Fact Based Communications, società di Alan Friedman si occupa della realizzazione di format grafici per programmi televisivi e di sigle tra cui l’Alan Friedman Show in onda su Sky per diversi anni.
Negli anni ha sempre cercato un prodotto raffinato producendo grafica per Stampa e Video, adeguando il design allo stile più moderno e internazionale possibile e consigliando la maniera più consona per riportare il giusto messaggio richiesto dal cliente.
Approfondendo sempre più lo studio sulla programmazione web con html, php e jquery per lo sviluppo di temi e plugins per WordPress, ma sempre con lo sguardo rivolto al design, attualmente si occupa di sviluppo e design di siti web vantando diverse collaborazioni con varie agenzie tra cui DNS per la creazione della prima versione del sito dedicato alle web series in italia: il RomaWebFest.
