Andrea DelGiudice, has enjoyed a full career in Europe and the United States as a leading international soprano. Venues include the Scottish National Opera, Munich State Opera, Liege Opera, Opera Bonn, Edmonton Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, DiCapo Opera Theater and Arizona Opera. Her verismo roles include the Puccini and Verdi heroines alongside renowned artists such as Placido Domingo, Johan Botha, Sherill Milnes, Alexei Steblianko, and Nicola Martinucci.
Andrea has been featured as a concert soloist at Boston’s Jordan Hall with some of Boston’s foremost instrumental soloists, Brockton Symphony Orchestra and WGBH’s “Morning Classics” in Richard Strauss’ Four Last Songs and original works including Shema by composer Simon Sargon.Andrea’s diverse talents led to numerous international recording contracts in over 200 major films and animated features in Rome, Italy with Walt Disney/ Buena Vista, RAI television and Sundance Films.
Ms. DelGiudice currently serves as Resident Artist Artistic Development Director at Dicapo Opera Theater in New York City; Artistic Advisor and Voice Faculty at the Narnia Arts Academy in Narni, Italy, and Voice Faculty at the Neighborhood Playhouse of the Theater in New York City.

Andrea was Artistic Advisor and Voice Faculty at the Tuscia Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy from 2009 – 2013.
As Founder and Artistic Director, of Operatunity Outreach in Boston, Andrea developed a community conservatory Opera training program for musically merited children in need. Operatunity served nearly 20 different cities producing operas in after-school programming integrating children and professional opera singers.
Ms. DelGiudice is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and an accomplished pianist. She is fluent in Italian. College Faculty and Resident Artist appointments include Dean College, Salem State College, Stonehill College and Massasoit Community College in Massachusetts.

At the age of seven he began studying the piano and at eleven he began studying the organ under the organist and composer Lorenzo Ronci. He concluded his studies at Santa Cecilia with Maestro Federico del Sorto. Since 1996 he has been the principal organist at the Basilica del Sacro Cuore Immacolato di Maria ai Parioli (Rome).
From 1997 – 2011 he continued to perfect his piano studies under Biagio Andriulli, Andrea Sammartino, Giovanni Scaramuzza and Gino Nappo at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory in Rome. He has performed as soloist and has accompanied polyphonic choirs in some of the most prestigious cathedrals and venues in Italy. He has worked with many important singers from the Santa Cecilia Academy and Teatro dell’Opera, the Coro Accademico Romano and the Coro Polifonico S. Martino, among others. In 2003 he held concerts in the Vatican (Sala Raffaello), in the Chiesa del Governatorato and in the Vatican Gardens for the re-opening of the Casina di Pio IV.
He studied composition with Marco Persichetti, graduating with the highest grades from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome under Francesco Telli.
He began his career as Orchestra Conductor studying with Francesco Carotenuto and Marco Boemi, and participating in Piero Bellugi’s Masterclasses. Since 2004 he has written and performed music on the piano and organ for shows, documentaries and short TV movies on RAI 1, RAI 3, RAI International, Sky Sport, Roma Uno, and others. In November 2005, Radio Uno Rai broadcasted his “Rapsodia Orientale (Pensando a Pechino)” composed and played by him. In May 2006 he debuted as composer at the Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome (Sala Petrassi) during an event hosted by Pippo Baudo “Com’è Straordinaria la Vita”, and held a chamber music concert in the Basilica di San Giovanni in Laterano for the 400th anniversary of the opening of the Vatican Museums. During the Christmas festivities in 2006, he played the organ during the Mass in St. Peter’s Cathedral. In September 2009 and in December 2011, he was again organist at St. Peter’s for the celebration of Masses by Cardinal Comastri.
From 2009 to 2010 he was First Assistant Conductor of the elite orchestra of the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in Rome. In 2010 he debuted as Conductor of the Orchestra Tiberina, conducting the orchestra again in 2011 for a concert at the Cathedral of the Santissimi Apostoli (Rome). Since 2010 he has been collaborating with the Accademia Santa Cecilia as pianist and conductor. Since 2011 he has been Principal Conductor of the Philharmonic Orchestra “L’Armonica Temperanza”, with which he tours on a regular basis. With “L’Armonica Temperanza” he was invited to perform in the most prestigious halls and churches of Rome (Sala della Protomoteca del Campidoglio, Sala del Coro della Cappella Sistina, Biblioteca del Senato, Biblioteca Nazionale, Basilica di Santa Francesca Romana, San Quirico e Giulitta ai Fori Imperiali, San Bartolomeo all’Isola Tiberina, S.Lucia al Gonfalone, Chiesa degli Spagnoli ai Banchi Vecchi, San Clemente, Sant’Eugenio alle Belle Arti, San Paolo entro le mura). In 2012 he founded the Orchestra and Choir of Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II in Rome.
In 2013, within the Narnia Festival, he conducts at the prestigious Orvieto Cathedral and San Domenico Auditorium in Narni, Italy. Both concerts were recorded by RAI 1 and presented by famous actress Barbara De Rossi.
In January 2014 he debuts with Orchestra Filarmonica di Roma at the Auditorium Seraphicum in Rome and Teatro Magnani in Fidenza (Parma) with two sold out concerts.
On the basis of his merits, the President of the Republic of Italy, C.A.Ciampi, awarded him the title of “Cavaliere della Repubblica”.

Praised for her outstanding artistry, “vocal beauty of high technical caliber,” “vocal flare and flamenco abandon,” and “gifted storytell[ing],” mezzo-soprano Maya Hoover has appeared on stages throughout the United States, Europe, Latin America, and China. Her recent engagements include concerts with renowned soprano Sumi Jo and the Hawai‘i Symphony Orchestra; Fauré Requiem (Morris Choral Society, New Jersey); Brahms Alto Rhapsody (Greeley Philharmonic Orchestra, Colorado); Beethoven Symphony No. 9 (GPO, HSO, and Bellingham Festival of Music); Verdi Requiem (Tuscia Operafestival, Italy); Mozart Requiem (Orquesta Sinfónico de Trujillo, Perú; Honolulu and Kona, Hawai‘i); Handel Messiah (Maui Chamber Orchestra); Falla El sombrero de tres picos (HSO); The Magic Flute (Second Lady) and Il Trovatore (Inez) with Hawai‘i Opera Theatre; Madama Butterfly (Suzuki) with Opera Ft. She holds a Doctor of Music degree in Voice Performance and Literature with a minor in Music Education from Indiana University, a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Westminster Choir College, and a Bachelor of Music degree with a minor in Italian Language and Literature from Binghamton University. She has studied with Mary Burgess, Laura Brooks Rice, Patricia Havranek, Virginia Zeani, and currently studies with Andrea DelGiudice. Her publications have appeared in Classical Singer, The Mentoring Connection, Philosophy of Music Education Review, and the Choral Journal, and she is the author/editor of Guide to the Latin American Art Song Repertoire: An Annotated Catalog of Twentieth-Century Art Songs for Voice and Piano (Indiana University Press). In August 2007, she joined the distinguished faculty of the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, where she serves as Professor of Music with a world-class faculty.

Patrick Dailey has been described as possessing “a powerful and elegant countertenor voice” and a “VOCAL STANDOUT”. International credits include the UK and Brazilian premieres of Hasse’s Marc’Antonio e Cleopatra with the Woodhouse Opera Festival and Il Festival de Ópera Barroca as all as the international premiere of Soosan Lolavar’s I.D. Please in the Tete a Tete New Opera Festival in London. He made his NYC cabaret debut in 2017 at the invitation of Tony Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown at Subculture NYC. On April 4th, Mr. Dailey served as featured artist, conductor, and music curator for the official MLK50 commemoration at the National Civil Rights Museum at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. Later that fall, he premiered the role of Mini-B/Boris the Boar in Dan Visconti and Cerise Jacobs’s Permadeath: A Video Game Opera with White Snakes Projects in Boston, MA to great acclaim. This spring, Mr. Dailey became the first countertenor to perform with Shreveport Opera singing Kyle in Robert Paterson’s Three Way: Masquerade. The reminder of the 2019 season included engagements with the IRIS Orchestra, ALIAS Chamber Ensemble, Music By Women Festival, and Boston Early Music Festival. As a scholar, he presented a performative presentation entitled “The Anatomy of the Black Voice: Peculiarities, Challenges, and Regional Differences” at the Center for Black Music Research’s 2013 Black Vocality Symposium. Jake Landau United States

×Jake Landau
Jake Landau was born in 1995 in New York City and raised in Long Island and Connecticut. He began formally taking composition lessons from theater composer and lyricist Lawrence Rosen in middle school and soon entered The Juilliard School’s Pre-College Division, where, upon testing out of the music theory curriculum, he studied composition and piano. During this time, he also participated in programs at the New York Youth Symphony and the New York Philharmonic as a teaching artist intern.
In 2013, he began his undergraduate studies at Juilliard with Pulitzer-, Grammy-, and Oscar-winning composer John Corigliano. Landau, then 17 years old, is the youngest person ever accepted to study with Mr. Corigliano. In the summer of 2014, he was the youngest Composition Fellow at the Aspen Music Festival and School, where he studied with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Steven Stucky. In the fall of 2015, he spent three months in Reykjavik, Iceland, working at the indie record label Bedroom Community and its in-house recording studio, Greenhouse Studios. After graduating from Juilliard, he received his master’s degree with first class honours from the University of Oxford, where his most notable commission was a piece for the Crown of the Netherlands premiered at the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. While at Oxford, he wrote his thesis on the history and technique of translating operas and performed on early keyboards with period-instrument ensemble The Bate Players.
Landau has received commissions from, and/or been performed by: The New York Philharmonic, Houston Grand Opera, Premiere Division Ballet, and more in venues such as David Geffen Hall (formerly Avery Fisher Hall), Carnegie Hall, and New York Live Arts Theater. In November of 2016, he entered the world of choral publication with his piece Ayres, for two-part chorus and piano, published by G. Schirmer as part of the Judith Clurman G. Schirmer Choral Series. One year later, he became the youngest-ever winner of the Walter Hinrichsen Award from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, leading to a publication of his orchestral opener Hardware Love by Edition Peters.
Landau is fluent in software programs Sibelius, Logic, and Sound Forge and has worked with and for such diverse musicians as Rihanna, Valgeir Sigurðsson, and John Paul Jones (of Led Zeppelin). He is active as a composer, lyricist, librettist, conductor, electronic music producer, and harpsichordist. Outside of classical music, he has collaborated on pop productions and multimedia projects for festivals and corporations including Iceland Airwaves and MSNBC, contributing strings and beats and often performing on keyboards. He has won numerous awards for his compositions and has produced a diverse output of orchestral, chamber, vocal, electronic, dance, theatrical, and solo music.

Known for many years for her singing, Ms. Hormozi’s background as a singer and has given her fine-tuned appreciation for artistic excellence and the realities and practicalities of the current state of the industry. Her work with premier operatic artists and business leaders has set the bar high for artistic standards, tempered with a down-to-earth work ethic. Sandra has also sung many concerts around the world and was a finalist of the Luciano Pavarotti International Vocal Competition and the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Cristiana Pegoraro is the first Italian female pianist to perform all 32 Piano Sonatas by Ludwig van Beethoven, and among few pianists in the world to have performed all five Beethoven Piano Concertos in a single day. During her tours of the Persian Gulf countries, she became the first female pianist of any country to perform concerts of classical music in Bahrain, Yemen, and Oman.
Over the years, she has appeared before many of the world’s highest dignitaries, including the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, the President of Italy, Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the President of the General Assembly of the United Nations, the Governor of New York State, the Mayor of New York City, Her Royal Highness the Grand Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg, the Italian Minister of Economic Development, and the President of the Austrian Senate.
In 2008, she was the only European representative at the Spring Festival at the United Nations in New York, and performed in the hall of the General Assembly in front of ambassadors and dignitaries from 192 countries.
In collaboration with Italian Embassies and Italian Cultural Institutes, she is regularly invited by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to represent Italy and to promote Italian music worldwide.
Her piano artistry can be heard on 28 CDs released by Decision Products, Nuova Era, Dynamic, Diva Productions, Eden Editori, Da Vinci Publishing and Promu.
Pegoraro’s “Astor Piazzolla Tangos”, released in 2016, won the gold medal at California’s prestigious Global Music Awards. The pianist’s two most recent recordings comprise a CD entitled “Gioacchino Rossini Overtures – Piano Transcriptions,” featuring her newly-written transcriptions of the composer’s most famous overtures, and a second CD, “Fantasia Italiana, ” with more new transcriptions, for piano and string orchestra, of Antonio Vivaldi’s “The Four Seasons.”
As a composer, she has released six highly acclaimed albums of her own original compositions (“A Musical Journey”, “Ithaka”, “La mia Umbria”, “Volo di note” and “Piano di volo” and “Colors of Love”) and has had various compositions used in films and documentaries. Ms. Pegoraro composed the soundtrack to the video “For Whom the Sirens Toll” produced by the United Nations Office of the Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict and presented at the United Nations on September 11, 2004, in memory of the victims of the terrorist attack. She wrote the soundtrack for the documentary “La casa dell’orologio” (“The House of the Clock”) by Italian director Gianni Torres.
On March 22, 2021, her video clip “RAIN,” with original music, debuted on the occasion of the United Nations’ “World Water Day.” The video was made under the auspices of the UN and was entered in the UN’s official Gallery.
Cristiana is the author of a book of poems called “Ithaka” and a series of children’s books based on Italian operas. Her poems are published in the book “Poeti Umbri Contemporanei” by Il Formichiere and in the 2020 edition of “Il Corniolano,” released on World Poetry Day, declared by UNESCO.
At present, she has received over 40 international awards. They include:
– The World Peace Award from the Circolo Culturale Italiano of the United Nations “for her effort in advancing peace in the world.”
– The Mela d’Oro Premio Bellisario by Fondazione Marisa Bellisario with a live ceremony on RAI1 broadcast worldwide, and a private visit with the President of the Republic of Italy, Sergio Mattarella.
– The Melvin Jones Fellow Award “for dedicated humanitarian services” from the Lions Clubs International Foundation.
– The Premio Simpatia, awarded by the Mayor of Rome to performing artists, authors, ambassadors and sports figures who exemplify a commitment to Italy, and conceived in recognition “of individuals who enrich and exalt the essential values of life through their work.” Past recipients have included film directors Federico Fellini and Franco Zeffirelli, actress Sophia Loren, and Mother Theresa.
– The 2010 ILICA Woman of the Year Award by the Italian Language Intercultural Alliance in New York.Cristiana supports various international organizations such as UNICEF (for which she is a spokesperson), Amnesty International, World Food Programme, Emergency, Lions Clubs International, and Rotary International in their humanitarian efforts.
She has been a featured artist on radio and television, on WQXR New York, RAI, Mediaset, Radio Vaticana, Discoteca di Stato (Italy), BBC (Scotland), ARD (Germany), RTP (Portugal), Nine Network (Australia), and CBC (Japan). She has been a guest on the Italian TV shows “Porta a Porta” with Bruno Vespa (RAI 1), “Sottovoce” with Gigi Marzullo (RAI 1), and “Vivere Meglio” with Fabrizio Trecca (Rete 4). Concerts of hers have been broadcast on RAI 5.
Ms. Pegoraro created, produced, and directed, for Oltretutto Radio (Italy), the show entitled “The Magic of the Piano,” with biographies of the great composers and her performances at the piano.
Cristiana regularly presents master classes at The Juilliard School in New York City and in much of the USA, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia as well as outreach and music appreciation programs, with the goal of spreading the love for and the interest in classical music.
In addition to her concertizing and teaching activities, she is also involved in arts and organizational management and production, working with important institutions and for music events at both national and international levels.
From 2011, she is the Founder and President of Narnia Arts Academy (www.narniaartsacademy.com) and Artistic Director of Narnia Festival (www.narniafestival.com), a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote the arts and the cultural, architectural and historical heritage of Italy through a vast array of initiatives. Both the Academy and the Festival are eight-time recipients of the “Medal of the President of the Italian Republic” for their outstanding programming.
She is a spokesperson for her native region of Umbria’s tourism campaign throughout the world and Ambassador of San Valentino to the world.
Ms. Pegoraro graduated with the highest honors from the Conservatory of Terni, Italy, at the age of sixteen. She continued piano studies with Jörg Demus in Vienna and with Hans Leygraf at both the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Hochschule der Künste in Berlin. Later, Cristiana was a student of Nina Svetlanova at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.

Paola Pisa studied piano and graduated at the Conservatory in Ferrara. Subsequentially she accomplished musicological studies at the University level and studied harpsichord. She won the national competition for repetiteur at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna and carried out an intense concert activity in Europe, Asia and the United States of America, holding seminars and internships in various American universities. She edited and published essays, reviews and piano reductions for publishers sch as Zanibon-Ricordi, Curci, L.I.M., Lemoine, Zimmermann and Billaudot. She was the official accompanist to Renata Tebaldi in San Marino in the year of music, she also collaborated with Andràs Adorjàn, Susan Milan, Alain Marion, Maxence Larrieu, Denis Lupachev, Janos Balint, Wolfgang Schulz, Andreas Blau, Andrea Griminelli. Tenor Jordan Weatherston Pitts made his principal artist debut to critical acclaim as the queen Renata in Iain Bell and Mark Campbell’s world premiere of Stonewall with New York City Opera and continues an active performance schedule of romantic and lyric repertoire. The 2018 Narnia Festival is thrilled to welcome baritone Christopher Maltman as a visiting artist, presenting masterclasses and guidance to the festival’s vocal artists. Maltman has performed in the world’s leading opera houses (Covent Garden, Royal Opera House, Metropolitan Opera) and is widely known for his immaculate Verdi repertoire. He is also a globally-renowned Don Giovanni, and has sung the role in London, Berlin, Munich, Cologne, Salzburg, Amsterdam, Toulouse, San Sebastian, Beijing and Chicago, and adds New York and Edinburgh this year. Increasingly in demand for Verdi roles, he has sung Posa, Simon Boccanegra, Conte di Luna and will soon add Guy de Montfort, Don Carlo di Vargas, Rigoletto and Germont. He won the Lieder prize at the Cardiff Singer of the World early in his career and has continued to delight audiences with his sensitive and engaging song performances, many of which are documented in acclaimed recordings. A native of France, Audrey Saint-Gil attended the Conservatoire National de Musique de Toulouse where she was awarded three first prizes with distinction in piano solo, chamber music, and vocal coaching. She continued her doctoral studies, in parallel with her solo piano career, at the Université de Toulouse and graduated with a PhD in Greek philosophy.
Ms. Saint-Gil began her career at the Théâtre du Capitôle in Toulouse and her international career at the Konzerthaus in Vienna, Austria under the direction of Bertrand de Billy. At the same time she was appointed Head Vocal Coach of the Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris.
She made her American debut as Assistant Conductor with Michigan Opera Theatre and has since been working with major opera houses such as Cincinnati Opera Festival, Ravinia Festival, Caramoor International Music Festival, Royal Opera House, Washington National Opera, New York City Opera and Los Angeles Opera under the direction of James Conlon and Plácido Domingo.
Ms. Saint-Gil has been frequently invited to give master classes and is also the author of several books on French diction. She has served as a judge for several major vocal competitions including the International Hans Gabor Belvedere Singing Competition at the Metropolitan Opera. She was also recently commissioned to write the film score for a documentary on James Salter by the Checkerboard Film Foundation.
In addition to her continuing work as assistant conductor to Placido Domingo and James Conlon at Los Angeles Opera and her position as French opera specialist at the Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, Ms Saint-Gil is also expanding into conducting projects of her own. 2017 saw her debut conducting Britten’s Variations on a Theme by Frank Bridge in Montpellier, to be followed by Les Illuminations and works by Lilli Boulanger, with further engagements in France and USA.Jason Tramm United States

Jason C. Tramm’s work in the operatic, symphonic and choral repertoire
has received critical acclaim throughout the Unites States and abroad.
Maestro Tramm serves as Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the
MidAtlantic Opera with whom he made his Carnegie Hall (Stern Auditorium) and
Lincoln Center (Alice Tully Hall) debuts in the past two seasons with his
critically acclaimed “Prayer for Peace”concerts.Currently in his 10th season as Director of Music, in Residence, of
the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, Tramm leads the choral,
orchestral, and oratorio performances in the 6,500-seat historic Great
Auditorium in the summer months. In addition to the historic Ocean Grove
Choir Festival, the largest sacred music festival on the East Coast, Tramm
conducts orchestral and sacred masterworks. He has appeared on two National
Public Radio broadcasts with organ virtuoso Gordon Turk and a large
orchestra. Mr. Tramm is also Music Director/Principal Conductor of the
Teatro Lirico D’Europa, a touring professional opera company, with whom he
will conduct over 25 performances this season in 6 states in performances of
Turandot, Madama Butterfly, Tosca, Carmen and La Traviata. Tramm led the NJ
State Opera as principal conductor and Artistic Director from 2008 to 2012,

He started studying the violin in his home town of Trieste where he obtained his diploma in 1980. Already a member of the Teatro Comunale Orchestra, he went on to specialise in orchestral conducting at the Vienna Music Academy under the guidance of Karl Österreicher. At the same time he was playing first violin at the Stadttheater in Baden in Vienna and was attending an orchestral conducting course with Franco Ferrara. In 1985 he passed his diploma in orchestral conducting with full marks and the following year he obtained his diploma in choral conducting at the B. Marcello conservatory in Venice.
In 1986 he was called upon to act as musical director for the Budapest Chamber Orchestra, a position that he held until 1992. With the Budapest Chamber Orchestra he conducted over 150 concerts throughout Europe with such soloists as J.P. Rampal, Nina Belina, Cecilia Gasdia, JESS Trio Vienna, Andras Adorian, etc. He began collaborating with the ‘A. Belli’ Teatro Lirico Sperimentale in Spoleto in 1991 as music consultant and orchestra conductor where he worked with Ruggero Raimondi, Leo Nucci, Giorgio Merighi, Giusi Devinu, Elisabeth Norberg-Schulz and, in the same period, he also conducted a series of concerts in Rome at the Palazzo Farnese with the Chamber Orchestra from the S. Cecilia National Academy.
He was the ‘Generalmusikdirektor’ at the Stadttheater in Klagenfurt from 1993 to 1998 where he conducted Manon Lescaut, La Bohéme, Tosca, The Masked Ball, The Requiem Mass, Pagliacci, Cavalleria rusticana, Carmen, Così fan tutte, Die Fledermaus, The Merry Widow and various symphonic concerts. 1994 saw him at the Bregenz Festival on invitation from Fabio Luisi to conduct Francesca da Rimini by Zandonai. In Pisa in 1996, he conducted Il Signor Bruschino and La Scala di Seta, Nabucco at Regensburg and La Traviata in Nuremburg. He conducted the orchestra of Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan and the Camerata Fiorentina in Florence.
From 1996 to 2002 he was the vice-Artistic Director at the ‘G. Verdi’ Teatro Comunale in Trieste and from 2002 to 2007 he was the Artistic Coordinator for the Arena di Verona. He also conducted the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baden- Württemberg Orchestra in Stuttgart, the Niederoesterreich Tonkünstler Orchestra in Vienna, the Philharmonic orchestra in Graz and the Festival Orchestra of Tenerife.
Since 1998 he has been the musical consultant for the European Opera Centre in Manchester where he conducted three projects during their European tour: ‘Lucio Silla’ by Mozart at the Copenhagen Royal Theatre in 1998, ‘La Scala di Seta’ by Rossini and ‘Il Maestro di Cappella’ by Cimarosa at the ‘Tibor Varga’ Festival in 2000 in Switzerland and during 2007-08, he conducted in Liverpool the first modern version of “Emilia di Liverpool” by Donizetti.
In 2002 he conducted a new production of ‘La Bohème’ at the Teatro Municipale in Salerno and in 2003 he led ‘L’elisir d’amore’ and a new production of ‘Don Pasquale’ at the Graz Opera House.
He recorded “Der todt und das Maedchen” by Schubert with G. Mahler’s arrangement for chamber orchestras with the Budapest Chamber Orchestra, the first full-length version of concerts for the trumpet by Giuseppe Torelli with Mauro Maur and the two “Divertimenti” by Leo Weiner. He was the first to translate Leopold Mozart’s ‘Scuola di violino’ into Italian for the Ut-Orpheus in Bologna and the new rhythmic version of Strauss’ Viennese Blood’ created for Weinberger-London / Suvini Zerboni-Milan is also due to him.Peter Randsman United States

French-Italian pianist Laetitia Ruccolo is the cofounder of the company Bare Opera and the original musical director of LoftOpera in Brooklyn. She has been invited by the prestigious National Opera Studio in London, to be part of the 2015/2016 season, as a répétiteur and a pianist.
Ms. Ruccolo was invited to play several times for events hosted by star violinist Joshua Bell. She recently performed in concerts hosted by soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, and played for the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation.
As a pianist and vocal coach, she has worked on productions with the Royal Opera House; Welsh National Opera, Loft Opera, Bare Opera; the Center for Contemporary Opera; Opera North, Leeds UK ; Weimar Opera Studio, Germany ; the Mozarteum Opera Studio, Salzburg Austria; Dicapo Opera; and Tuscia Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy.
Also passionate about art songs, she participated to SongFest in California, and to the Schubert Institute in Austria, where she worked with pianists such as Julius Drake, Helmut Deutsch, Rudolf Jansen, Roger Vignoles, Martin Katz and Graham Johnson, as well as singers Christa Ludwig, Robert Holl and Elly Hameling.
Collaborating with new composers has always been an important part of her career. Her impressive list of new composer collaborations consists of John Musto, Jake Heggie, Mohammed Fairouz, Christian Lauba, and Libby Larsen, to name a few. Ms. Ruccolo played the world premier of Libby Larsen’s song cycle “Late in the day.”
She has performed widely as a solo artist, as well as collaborated with chamber ensembles, singers and with orchestra in France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Portugal and Israel. One of the most celebrated interpreters of the role of Bess, audiences on five continents have enjoyed her more than 120 appearances in Porgy and Bess. In the United States, she has performed the role from coast to coast: from Washington National Opera, Dallas Opera to Los Angeles Opera. The Internationally acclaimed soprano has also appeared in Gershwin’s masterpiece in the major capital cities of Amsterdam, Munich, Paris, Rome, São Paulo and Tokyo, among others.
This season Indira Mahajan performed the role of Bess at the Landestheater Linz in Austria and at the Festival de Wiltz in Luxembourg. She also performed the role at the Grand Théâtre de Geneva, The Chassè Theater in Breda, Netherlands and Palais des Festivals Cannes, France and joined the roster of the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Indira Mahajan’s orchestral repertoire extends from works in the Baroque and Classical genres to the foremost composers of today. She recently performed Steven Stucky and Gene Scheer’s riveting oratorio August 4, 1964 with the Dallas Symphony, at Meyerson Symphony Hall in Dallas and at Carnegie Hall. Miss Mahajan performed Beethoven’s Symphony no. 9 with both Gustavo Dudamel’s Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra in Caracas and with the Korean Broadcast Symphony Orchestra at the United Nations, as well as Beethoven’s Mass in C with the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica. He has a naturally electric presence, and his diction is precise no matter how high he sings.” Winner of the prestigious 2014 George London Award, Ray Chenez is rapidly establishing a major international career in opera. He has been called “luxury casting” by the New York Times, having “excellent connection to text, superb vocal control and spotless diction” by Opera News, and having a “dramatic soprano voice which oozes potential” by Opera Britannia.
He made his European debut in in the 2014-15 season in the role of Marzia in Leonardo Vinci’s Catone in Utica alongside Max Emanuel Cencic and Franco Fagioli at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden, and the Bergen International Festival with Riccardo Minasi and Il Pomo d’Oro. In the 2015-16 season he returns to the Opéra Royal de Versailles and makes his debut at the Opéra national de Lorraine in the roles of Nutrice and Amore in a new production of Luigi Rossi’s Orfeo under the baton of Raphaël Pichon, resprises the role of Marzia in Vinci’s Catone in Utica at the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest, Romania and the Theater an der Wien; makes his debut with Opera Omaha as Athamas in Handel’s Semele under the baton of Stephen Stubbs; and sings the virtuosic role of Achille in Luigi Cherubini’s Ifigenia in Aulide at the Internationale Gluck-Opern-Festspiele in Würzburg. In the 2014-15 season he made his debut in Lincoln Center as the Sorceress in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and reprised the role of Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro with Nickel City Opera, a role he received rave reviews for in his Canadian debut with Pacific Opera Victoria during the 2013-2014 season – CBC Radio stated he “captured the audience’s heart,” the Times Colonist reported “What Chenez does in a mezzo’s register is technically amazing and often affecting, and his Cherubino is at once hilarious and sympathetic,” and CVV Magazine hailed him for his “stunning countertenor and lanky gesticulations.”
Ray Chenez was born in the town of Lockport, NY (USA), and completed his vocal studies at the State University of New York at Fredonia and Florida State University. He is a winner of the George London Award, Metropolitan Opera National Council District Auditions, and many other competitions. As a studio artist with Opera Santa Barbara in California, he covered the title role in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice. Mr. León is an uniquely diverse artist, equally adept as an operatic tenor, a conductor and a pianist. Until recently he specialized in Italian repertoire singing the leading roles in such operas as Norma, La Traviata, Don Giovanni, and Madama Butterfly. Mr. León’s recent engagements have included singing Tamino in Die Zauberflöte. and his first Wagnerian tenor role in Los Angeles Lyric Opera’s production of Die Feen.
Maestro León conducts opera and concert music and his credits include Pagliacci and Suor Angelica for StageWorks Festival in Washington, D.C., Le Nozze di Figaro, La Traviata, Suor Angelica, La Boheme in Italy for Tuscia Operafestival, as well Stabat Mater of Pergolesi, andEsultate Jubilate of Mozart. Michael Capasso has produced, directed and toured opera and musical theater productions in the U.S. and abroad for over 30 years. Having studied voice at the Mannes College of Music, he began his career producing and directing while still in his late teens and early twenties. In 1981, he, along with Diane Martindale, founded New York’s Dicapo Opera Theatre. In 1995, Capasso conceived and designed a permanent home and performance space for the company, repurposing the lower level of the St. Jean Baptiste Catholic Church on Manhattan’s East Side, and transforming the large, unused space into a 204-seat “jewel-box” theater. Drawing on his background in construction, he was involved in every facet of the project, even personally manning heavy equipment to dig the orchestra pit. Over the 30 years of his leadership, Dicapo Opera Theater presented a diverse programming to the New York public, and, in co-operation with the Armel Festival, premiered three productions of contemporary American operas in Europe.
In addition to his work with the Dicapo Opera Theatre, Mr. Capasso has directed operas at l’Opéra de Montréal; Mallorca Opera, Spain; Toledo Opera; Connecticut Opera; New Jersey State Opera; Opera Carolina; and Orlando Opera among others. Mr. Capasso founded the National Lyric Opera in 1991, a touring company that has brought fully staged operas to communities in the American Northeast that would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience live opera.
In celebration of the 75th anniversary of George Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess, Capasso mounted a production which began touring in the United States in February 2010. The production continues to tour and was most recently hosted in Mexico City’s famed Palacio de Bellas Artes.
As an author, his writing credits include: a staged adaptation of Dickens’s A Christmas Carol; Opera Senza Rancor, a satire on the world of opera; Puccini’s Passion, a biographical play with music on the life and career of Puccini; a new book and libretti for La Périchole; English librettos for Die Fledermaus and The Daughter of the Regiment; and a concert/lecture series for the New York Historical Society. Capasso’s film on the life and career of Enrico Caruso, which he wrote and produced, aired on the A&E Network’s Biography series in 1998. Capasso is a regular participant on the popular intermission quiz of the Metropolitan Opera live broadcasts on WQXR. He has received New York City’s Ellis Island Medal of Honor, The Licia Albanese-Puccini Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Leonardo Da Vinci Award for Cultural Achievement from the Italian Heritage and Culture Committee of New York. In 2004, he was named “Man of the Year” by the Italian Welfare League and in 2009 received a Special Lifetime Achievement Award in the Arts from the Order Sons of Italy in America.

With the short film Hey You! she won the Jury Prize 2016 during the ninth edition of the International Short Film Festival “Tulips of Black Silk” in collaboration with RAI Cinema. At the Giffoni Film Festival 2015 it was the preview of Hey You!, that she wrote, directed and performed with music of PFM-Premiata Forneria Marconi; it is produced by Jacques Lipkau Goyard and Human Touch Productions.
With the film Walesa-Man of Hope by Andrzej Wajda, which premiered in September 2013 during the 70th Venice International Film Festival and TIFF in Toronto (2013), in which she played the role of Oriana Fallaci, she won the Pasinetti Award, the golden Arechi of the 67th Festival of Salerno cinema and Oriana Fallaci prize 2014. She starred a cameo in To Rome with love by Woody Allen (2012). In The Oriana’s words – Tribute to Fallaci in concert she tells Oriana Fallaci’s life, using a montage of her exact words chosen from her many works: the recital is a sort of conference on the piano music with Cristiana Pegoraro. Her show Homage to you, accompanied by flute, accordion and sax of Maestro Andrea Pelusi, opened the 2015/2016 season at the Roman Theater of Tanners, to celebrate her 30 years on stage. During the summer of 2015 she was protagonist of MeDea-variations on the myth, by and with Maurizio Donadoni. March 2015 staged again Diatribe of love against a seated man, the only play by the great Colombian Nobel author Gabriel García Márquez, with a new staging directed by Emanuela Giordano. As the best event of the Roman Carnival 2015 she signed the script with the director Francesco Sala and she performed in Christina of Sweden, Queen in Rome, starring with Alessandro Benvenuti. Care planning and theatrical text for a Tribute to Gabriel García Márquez: imaginary interview performed with Massimo Dapporto and the full reading in Marathon with 150 collegues of “One Hundred Years of Solitude”. During the Spoleto Festival 2001 she starred Gin and tonic, a play written and directed by Silvano Spada, the only show of prose replicated throughout the duration of the festival in the Caio Melisso theater. On May 24, 2015 for the centenary of the First World War she directed The battlefront of women by and with Lucilla Galeazzi and LeVocidOro choir and she starred in the prologue Talk a woman of Matilde Serao too. She was director, text author and interpreter of history between D’Annunzio and Eleonora Duse in D’Annunzio’s feelings. Back to interpret The song of Dido, directing the preparation and translating by the Book IV of Virgil’s Aeneid, VII by the Epistle of Ovid and lyrics by Ungaretti, a melologue on several classical music themes for Dido Abandoned for soprano, choir and piano. In 2007 she directed and starred in Histoire du soldat by Igor Stravinsky-Ramuz. She is author and producer of the entire chiamalavita project, Recital in concert broadcast by RAI On Stage, presented in Benevento City Entertainment Theater Festival and arrived in the DHL Auditorium of the U.N. headquarters in November 2005. The theatrical event, performed in many Italian cities, is playing on the theme of war and UNICEF which granted movies and touching photos of children affected by armed conflicts. She wrote and set up the text by works by Italo Calvino, organizing it on music and songs (four of them written by Calvino on Sergio Liberovici music) with singer Grazia Di Michele and the musicians Andrea Pelusi, Livio Matrone and Filippo De Laura. In April 2005, Rai Trade has published the CD, also designing to raise awareness of Calvin lyricist. The proceeds helped UNICEF Italy to build sewers and drinking water wells to save about 2350 Iraqi children. She was the design and the creator of the recital of Futurist poems Zang tumb tumb FuturismOggi, Entertainment magnetic theater concert with Livio Matrone on 64 percussions and with Enrico Maria Lamanna as supervisor director. The show was also graphically developed for video wall installation in London. On the occasion of the Jubilee 2000 she was starring with Mariano Rigillo on lyrics by Vincenzo De Vivo and Baget Bozzo, the opera Passio et resurrectio composed by Master Sergio Rendine for large orchestra, the Solisti Aquilani chorus and Enzo Gragnaniello soloist, replicated in Easter 2007. the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma has entrusted her in 2001 for I heard the voice, I heard the cry, melodrama from the Medea of Euripides in three movements composed by Maestro Alessandro Cusatelli, for voice, cello, percussion and orchestra synthesized computer. In December 2003 in Taormina-Arte she was on stage with The Rock, opera by Vincenzo Spampinato, with Oriella Dorella étoile. The Impresario by W. A. Mozart, opera conducted by Maestro Giuranna and staged by Tonino Del Colle, represents her first step of a successful collaboration with musicians. From 1981-82-83-84 she writes and leads White Paper and she is rewarded with a silver microphone for best audience. In 1985 she cooperates with Radio Montecarlo. She published Unbelievable Journey, essay with which she won, among others, the Fregene Literary Award – Transparent Healing Energy with crystals, precious stones and metals, translated into English, Spanish, Portuguese and German and reprint for XVII editions in Italy, for which it has been asked for a re-release with update. For the video-book Healing with crystals, gems and metals she is author and director too. Si è diplomato in Regia lirico-teatrale presso il Conservatorio di Musica «Santa Cecilia» di Roma e laureato in Discipline dell’Arte, della Musica e dello Spettacolo presso l’Università degli Studi di Bologna.
Ha fatto parte della direzione artistica di importanti manifestazioni internazionali di musica, danza, teatro, tra i quali la Sagra Musicale Umbra, le Panatenee Pompeiane (Pompei, Agrigento, Capri), il Verdi Festival di Parma, il Reate Festival di Rieti, del quale dal 2012 è stato nominato Direttore artistico.
Presso la Fondazione Rossini è membro del Comitato scientifico e direttore delle collane «Iconografia rossiniana», «I libretti di Rossini» e «Saggi e Fonti».
Presso l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia è coordinatore delle attività artistiche di Santa Cecilia Opera Studio, progetto di alto perfezionamento in canto lirico dedicato alla formazione professionale di giovani cantanti diretto da Renata Scotto.
Si è dedicato alla valorizzazione e alla riscoperta del melologo attraverso concerti, conferenze, seminari, trasmissioni radiofoniche e spettacoli con attrici quali Anna Proclemer, Sonia Bergamasco, Milena Vukotić.

Fabrizio Pompei graduated in Humanities at University of L’Aquila and later obtained a 2nd level University Master degree in Opera Stage Director at Opera Academy of Verona (where he had an opera stage director internship with directors P. Pizzi, R. Brunel, W. Kentridge, F. Zeffirelli).
He worked as stage director and stage director assistant with renown Italian e foreign productions (Commissione Internazionale per lo sviluppo dei popoli-CISP, European Union programme “Youth in action”, Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Società dei Concerti “B. Born in Italy in 1952, studied music, classic and modern dance; in 1980 he got his degree as Architect with the theme “The birth of Teatro all’Italiana”. He studied, as director and actor, in the theater directed by JERZY GROTOWSKI, and in Denmark, ODIN TEATRET, directed by Eugenio Barba. In 1980 he founded a theatre company, and produced more than thirty pieces by Classic and Contemporaneous Theatre: Boccaccio, Shakespeare, Cervantes, Casanova, Victor Hugo, Dumas, Verga, Garcia Lorca, Brecht. In 1982 took part in the production of the film “LA TRAVIATA” with Placido Domingo and Teresa Stratas, directed by Franco Zeffirelli, as Actor-mime; these experience influenced him in the choice of his career as director, stage and costume designer for Opera. He wrote screenplays for TV and Cinema, and in 1988 started his career as director, stage and costume designer with Lyric Theatre of Spoleto; between 1988 and 2004, he directed L’ITALIANA IN ALGERI, LA SERVA PADRONA, LA TRAVIATA, and others Operas. He directed for MAGGIO MUSICALE of Florence L’INGANNO FELICE by Rossini and the contemporaneous PERSO PER PERSO by Baggiani, and Verdi’s FALSTAFF at VERDI Theatre of Sassari. In 2002 he directed in Japan LA SERVA PADRONA by Pergolesi and IL GIOCATORE by Cherubini. His new production of LA TRAVIATA in 2004 went on tour in Tokio, Osaka and in 12 of the most important Japan cities. In 2005 he directed and was stage designer in a new and very successful Production of Verdi’s ATTILA at TEATRO dell’OPERA of Rome. He was invited in several International Festivals, in FRANCE (Festival of TOURS and ROUEN), in GREECE (Festival of TESSALONIKI), SPAIN (BARCELLONA) and UNGHERIA (BUDAPEST) and in his country, ITALY. For TEATRO alla SCALA of Milan he directed 25 Opera-videos about MARIA CALLAS, and planned the Exhibition in the 20° anniversary of Callas’death. In 2006 he projected a new Openair Theater with 1800 seats for Narni Opera Festival, inaugurated under his artistic direction with Verdi’s AIDA. At Opera House CARLO FELICE of Genova he created in 2008 a big Event, tribute to Maria Callas as Isolde in Wagner’s TRISTAN und ISOLDE. Alongside his career as director, stage and costume designer he worked at University of Perugia as teacher of Performing Arts and Direction. In 2009 directed once more LA TRAVIATA in Verdi Theatre of Messina, Bellini’s NORMA for KOREAN NATIONAL OPERA of Seoul and ELISIR D’AMORE in Daejeon, Daegu and Goyang Theatres in KOREA. In 2011 directed for THOC (National Theatre of Cyprus) the tragedy “BACCHAE” by Euripides. In 2012 he created a big event in Rome, LEYENDAS DE AMOR, for the international meeting ROMEMETAPHYSICS, and in Cyprus an exhibition of his paintings. In 2013 he wrote a new play, QUANNO L’AGNOLO SUONÒ PER LO FIJOLO DE LO MERCANTE DE ASSISI in Narni, and directed a new version of IL TROVATORE in Tolentino. In 2014 he directed LIVIETTA E TRACOLLO by Pergolesi in Cucinelli’s Theatre.

Diego Procoli has graduated with honours in Piano at the Conservatorio “A. Casella” of L’Aquila (Italy), where he has obtained also his Master Degree in Piano “summa cum laude” under the guidance of Elena Matteucci. He has studied with Nina Tichman (Piano), Anthony Spiri and Roglit Ishay (Piano Chamber Music) at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Köln (Germany) and has attended masterclasses and piano courses with Orazio Maione, Carlo Grante, Fausto di Cesare, Mariangela Vacatello, Pier Narciso Masi and Konstantin Bogino. He has studied also Harpsichord with Andrea Coen and Fortepiano with Costantino Mastroprimiano, as well as Music Theory and Composition with Matteo d’Amico and Claudio Perugini at the Conservatorio of L’Aquila.
As soloist or as pianist in chamber groups he has performed for several Concert Seasons and Festivals in Italy and abroad, such as the Concert Season of Società dei Concerti “Bonaventura Barattelli” (L’Aquila), the Festival di Mezza Estate (Tagliacozzo), the Estate Musicale Frentana (Chieti), the Teatro Principal di Castellon de la Plana (Spain), il Riojaforum of Logroño (Spain), the Rome Chamber Music Festival, the Concert Season of “I Solisti Aquilani” Orchestra, the Polish Institut of Culture and the Embassy of Poland in Rome and Malta, the Auditorium della Conciliazione and the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia of Rome and the RAI – Radiotelevisione italiana.
In 2006 he has attended the Opera Accompanist and Correpetition Course chaired by Robert Kettleson at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Since 2010 he contributes as pianist for for the Master Cours in Opera Singing of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia of Rome held by Renata Scotto and its opera productions (Così fan tutte of W. A. Mozart, 2010; The Cunning Little Vixen of L. Janacek 2011, Gianni Schicchi of G. Puccini and L’Heure espagnole of M. Ravel 2012). He has partecipated to the opera productions of the Concert Season “I Mercoledì della Cattolica” of Rome, of the Istituzione Sinfonica Abruzzese (L’Aquila), of the Artincanto Festival (Teramo), of the Associazione “Tito Gobbi” Magie dell’Opera Project (Don Giovanni of W. A. Mozart, 2011), of the Reate Festival (Il Campanello of G. Donizetti, 2010; Adina of G. Rossini, 2012; Anna Bolena of G. Donizetti and Un Giorno di Regno of G. Verdi, 2013) and of the Teatro Real Madrid Season (Clemenza di Tito of W. A. Mozart, 2011) working under the musical direction of conductor such as Carlo Rizzari, Thomas Hengelbrock and Fabio Biondi. He has also been piano accompanist of Master Courses in Singing of Elena Cecchi Fedi, Luciano di Pasquale, Luca Canonici, Anna Vandi, Sylvia Sass e Bernadette Manca di Nissa.
In 2009 he has graduated summa cum laude in Literature and History of Music at the University of L’Aquila and he is attending the Master Course in Musicology of the University of Rome – La Sapienza. As musicologist and music journalist he contributes with Società dei Concerti “B. Barattelli” of L’Aquila, the Festival “W. A. Mozart” of Rovereto, the Istituzione Universitaria dei Concerti (IUC) and Oratorio del Gonfalone of Rome, as well as for newspapers and music magazines like MUSICA of Stephen Hastings. He is press agent of the Conservatorio “A. Casella” of L’Aquila and for the Alessandro Casagrande International Piano Competition of Terni.

Born and raised in South Korea, Boram Ahn studied composition and piano performance at McGill University in Canada. She studied with pianist Richard Raymond and Kyoko Hashimoto, and composer Brian Cherney, John Rea, and Jean Lessage. She pursued Artist Diploma in Collaborative Piano under the direction of Michael McMahon, focusing on art song and operatic repertoire. From 2011 to 2014 she worked as a freelance pianist/coach in Montreal and McGill University, where she played for voice studios, recitals, choir, contemporary ensemble, and opera rehearsals. She served as répétiteur and coach for Opera McGill’s production La Bohème, Dido and Aeneas, The Rake’s Progress, Turn of the Screw, and the Canadian Premiere of John Musto’s opera, Volpone.
She participated in various opera programs and festivals throuout North America and Europe, where she had opportunity to work with conductor Julian Wachner, Andrew Bisantz, Olaf Storbeck, Simone Luti, Paolo Paroni, and director David Gately, Patrick Hansen, Dean Anthony, Tom Diamond, and Damon Nestor Ploumis. She has collaborated in opera productions at Opera Nuova (Suor Angelica), International Lyric Academy of Viterbo (Rigoletto), New York Opera Studio (opera scenes), Brevard Music Center in North Carolina (La Traviata, Alcina, L’Elisir d’amore), Center for Opera Studies in Italy (Le Nozze di
Figaro), Accademia Europa Dell’Opera (Così fan tutte, Gianni Schicchi), Crescendo Nyári Akadémián in Hungary (Don Giovanni), Lyric Opera Studio Weimar (Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor).She is currently based in Berlin, freelancing as instrumental/vocal accompanist and coach. Future engagements include 2016 Thüringer Schlossfestspiel Sonderhausen, where she will be assisting ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ as pianist and Musical assistant.

×Sonya Delwaide
Sonya Delwaide is a choreographer and performer whose reputation has flourished within the United States and Canada for three decades. Her work has been favorably noticed by critics: she has been profiled in San Francisco Magazine, received a Bay Area Goldie Award (from the San Francisco Bay Guardian), was named in the 2001 Top 10 list from the San Francisco Chronicle and was in the Dance Magazine’s Top 25 people to watch in 2002. Although her choreographic development began within the New York post-modern dance scene, her regular involvement with ballet companies and her French-Canadian roots strongly influence her voice. The San Francisco Express wrote: “she seems to epitomize a postmodern fusion of the Balanchine/Cunningham aesthetic with the punk expressiveness of the ’80s-geometric clarity and a ruminating, personal, sexually prickly style”. Ms. Delwaide’s work is characterized by intense theatricality, a highly charged and imaginative movement vocabulary, and an ironic yet gentle fascination with the human condition.
Ms. Delwaide was born in Québec, where she obtained her college diploma in Health Sciences and a 10th degree in Piano Performance from Laval University. Fascinated with dance, she earned an Honors Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University (Toronto). With the help of the Canada Arts Council, she pursued her dance training in New York with such masters as Merce Cunningham, Jocelyn Lorenz, Larry Rhodes, Twyla Tharp, Mel Wong and Douglas Dunn. In 1981 she joined New York’s Mel Wong Dance Company as a principal member, and in 1986 she became a member of Desrosiers Dance Theatre in Toronto.
Since 1981 her work has been produced in New York, San Francisco, Oakland. Philadelphia, Lille (France), Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Halifax, Montréal and throughout Québec. She has choreographed more than 80 pieces on companies such as Ottawa Ballet, Oakland Ballet, Diablo Ballet, Ballet Austin, L’Ecole Supérieure des Grands Ballets Canadiens and for the Fringe Festival in Philadelphia using the dancers of the Pennsylvania Ballet. She won the National Choreographic Competition sponsored by Hubbard Street 2 ( in 2000) and the 2006 New American Choreographic Talent, organized by Ballet Austin.
Ms. Delwaide has also received commissions to create dances for theater, gala, fundraising events, and American television. In 1988 she was a recipient of a “Exploration Grant” from the Canada Council to create a “dance drama” that was presented and produced by the Poor Alex Theater in Toronto. Ms. Delwaide’s acting also expanded to television: she performed and choreographed in “War of the Worlds”, “Friday the 13th, The Series”, the music video “The Dream is Alive” and at the “Toronto Arts Awards” for a CBC special.
In 1992 she co-founded the Compagnie de Danse L’Astragale based in Québec. For the following 7 years, she was Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer of L’Astragale and created 12 original works for this company. In 1996 she moved to California (Berkeley) where her work was immediately presented at San Francisco’s ODC Theater during SummerFest ’96 and in Oakland at Laney College, as part of the Bay Area Dance Series. Since then she has been co-produced by ODC Theater in their 2001, 1999 and 1998 programming, and was invited to perform “Départ”(for which she received an Isadora Duncan Award) at the10th anniversary season of San Francisco SummerFest 2001.
Miss Delwaide has also received many commissions from independent artists and various dance companies, such as: AXIS Dance Company, Berkeley Ballet Theater, School of Performing Arts in Jacksonville, California State University in Hayward, Contra Costa Ballet. Through these companies her work has been seen throughout California, in Massachusetts, Florida, Washington State and at the Kennedy Center in Washington. This summer Berkeley Ballet Theater will be showing 3 of her works at the Tanzommer Festival in Austria.
Ms. Delwaide received multiple awards from organizations such as the Irvine Foundation (Dancemakers’ Grant), Meet the Composer Grant (with AXIS Dance Company), The Canada Arts Council, Isadora Duncan Award (San Francisco),Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, Ministère des Affaires Culturelles du Québec, Ontario Arts Council, Fonds F.C.A.C. du Québec, Zellerbach Family Fund, the W. A. Gerbode Foundation (California) and a Sarlo Award for Teaching Excellence (Mills College). She was nominated for England’s Bonnie Bird Choreographic Fund in 1993 and for Canada’s Clifford E. Lee Award in 1992. Ms. Delwaide is a member of both ACTRA and l’Union des Artistes (Canada) and was once invited by the Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec to be one of the jury on their panel.
In the spring and summer of 2001, Ms Delwaide was acting as interim artistic director of Berkeley Ballet Theater. She is currently Professor of Dance at Mills College in Oakland, CA, where she served as Chair for 5 years. She has previously taught for Alvin Ailey Dance Company, ODC Theater, Shawl/Anderson Dance Center, Contra Costa Ballet, California State University in Hayward, National Ballet of Canada, L’Ecole Supérieure des Grands Ballets Canadiens, Cégep of Drummondville and many independent studios throughout Canada.
