      Federico Ferrandina

      Classical composer and performer

Federico Ferrandina is a film composer, classical composer, and guitarist whose work spans feature films, television, animation, and contemporary media. His music has been placed in major studio films and long-running television series, including Dallas Buyers Club and The Big Bang Theory, as well as independent and internationally distributed productions.
Alongside his work for screen, Ferrandina maintains an active career as a classical composer and performer. As a classical guitarist, he brings an instrument-centered approach to composition, informed by Mediterranean, modal, and contemporary classical traditions. His concert works and solo repertoire explore timbre, resonance, and formal clarity, and his performance backgroud directly informs his writing for strings plucked instruments across both concert and media contexts.
Ferrandina’s screen work is marked by lyrical intensity, textural depth, and a refined sense of musical dramaturgy, making his music particularly suited to narrative-driven formats such as film, animation, and long-form television. His compositions have been released and licensed through established industry channels and continue to reach international audiences.
In parallel with his creative work, Ferrandina is an established conservatory-level educator in Italy, where he teaches composition and related disciplines. His pedagogical focus includes film scoring, classical guitar and the development of a personal artistic voice grounded in strong technical and aesthetic foundations. He is also active internationally, including extended collaborations with renowned musician Omar Faruk Tekbilek, as well as with artists in the United States and Canada, which have contributed to a broadened, cross-cultural musical language.
Ferrandina’s profile brings together concert music, film and television composition, performance, and high-level pedagogy, positioning him at the intersection of classical rigor and contemporary media practice. He is currently expanding his professional activity in the United States, pursuing opportunities in film composition, collaboration, and higher education teaching.

  • General student impressions of our teachers, and GuitarOasisInternational:

“Taking a lesson with Tali Roth was an unforgettable experience. We worked on Barrios, and rarely have I had such an intense, profound, and inspiring lesson. Tali is a complete musician—an outstanding performer, a generous teacher, and someone who approaches the student’s musical world with empathy and insight. Her teaching combines precision, passion, and an extraordinary sensitivity. Truly one of the most beautiful lessons I’ve ever had.”

    Giovanni Masi,
    Concert Guitarist, teacher
    PHD student Salerno Conservatorio
    Former Student of Lucio Matarazzo

“My experience in Italy was really life changing, getting to meet who was then *the * Master for me and now a mentor and a colleague – Sharon Farber. I flew all the way to get to work with her. But I ended up with also – amazing travel stories, and friendships with musicians across the world.
My favorite part was the simultaneous work in the same environment with the guitar and violin players, being allowed to watch their lessons every day and then write my music to be played by them, trying out ideas live – even in the shuttle, at lunch, or whenever! The constant feedback from them and hearing the ideas played live every day was super meaningful. Even the guitar lessons themselves which I listened to – by Tali Roth – were helpful in the deeper musical level of how to approach a musical piece. I totally recommend!”

    Noga Kedem,
Graduate of Berklee Valencia Master’s Film Scoring program and Klaus Badelt’s team member composer

“I attended Guitar Oasis International Camp in Italy in 2023 and 2024. It was a great experience where I got the opportunity to learn from amazing teachers and attend various masterclasses. I learnt many new playing techniques and developed an understanding of various types of music styles which I did not know of before. The camp also gave me an unforgettable experience of living in Italy, and I made some great friends whom I am still in touch with even today. I want to thank all the teachers for making me a better guitar player.”

    Ahren Dixit, 13 years old
    International Math League Competition Medalist
Golden Globe Classical Music Award NY 2025 Winner

“Every year I used to participate in a summer academy. What makes Guitar Oasis International special is that apart from the extremely high level of guitar masterclasses and recitals, you also have the chance to interact with composers and other instruments and to socialize with artists from the other side of the Atlantic.
The “Italian hospitality” and the venue make the stay unforgettable.
Definitely I will be there for the second time in a row!!!”

Under Tali Roth’s amazing leadership, and through inspiring masterclasses with world-class musicians like Sharon Farber, I learned so much, worked hard, and grew as an artist. “The film scoring masterclass at Guitar Oasis International was an inspiring and insightful experience as a composer looking to take the next steps in the industry. It was a rare opportunity to work with the amazing composers Sharon Farber and Amit Weiner. The private lessons they offered were invaluable, and I was able to gain personal feedback on areas I can grow as a film composer, both musically and professionally. We also had the opportunity to perform and conduct our music with live musicians and audience, which was an exciting challenge. Plus, it was very special to study in and enjoy the beautiful city of Torchiara, Italy! We were completely immersed in music, got to attend many concerts, and networked with musicians internationally. Thank you so much for this opportunity!”
