Soprano Nadja Kristi has established herself as a versatile and powerful dramatic soprano, performing across Europe and Russia in both opera and concert settings. Originally from Kursk, Russia, she studied choral conducting and music education at the Sviridov Conservatory before completing her operatic training at Hochschule für Musik ‘Hanns Eisler’ in Berlin, where she was also a Bayreuth Festival scholarship recipient.
Kristi has performed leading and supporting roles in major opera houses and festivals, including the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Berlin State Opera, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, and Klosterneuburg Festival. Her repertoire includes Abigaille (Nabucco), Tosca (Tosca), Leonora (Il Trovatore), Freia (Das Rheingold), Eva (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg), and Miss Jessel (The Turn of the Screw). She has also collaborated with ensembles such as the Berliner Staatskapelle, RSB Symphony Orchestra, Brandenburg Symphony Orchestra, and the Russian National Orchestra.
Beyond opera, Kristi is an active concert soloist, having performed Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 14 at Boswiler Musiksommer, and has appeared in chamber music projects featuring works by Shostakovich. This September, she will release a recording of Rachmaninoff’s song cycle Op. 34 with British-Polish pianist Jonathan Powell for Naxos Records.
